Getting Logged In

Your New Account

When you receive notice that your account has been activated, you are ready to access the web-based services from the portal.  For convenience, we try to have all of our services use the same username and password combination, but not all these services are managed by IIa’s Corporate IT department.  As a result, a few services may require separate and different username and passwords.

Your Username

Typically, your username is the first initial of your first name, and your entire last name.  For example, Bob Smith’s username would be bsmith.  If you are using IE (Internet Explorer by Microsoft) you must include the domain information, so the username will be bsmith@infointl.com or INFOINTL\bsmith.  Note that we are using a backlash “\” and NOT a forward slash “/”.  Please see the section below titled ‘Browser Differences’.

What is a Domain?

The simple definition would be an application-specific address used to authenticate or differentiate online users.  Our email domain is IIAWEB.COM, and many of our public websites share this name.  While it makes sense to have all your online services use the same domain name, for security purposes, we have a separate authentication domain which is INFOINTL.COM.  Your email address will never include the INFOINTL domain suffix.

Browser Differences

Some browsers authenticate differently, so you should be familiar with the internet browser you are using.  If you are not sure, click Help from the menu tab, and About.  The most common browsers are Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE), Google Chrome, Safari (Apple/Mac/iOS), and Opera (BlackBerry/Android).  Microsoft uses a native NTLM authentication method, which prompts users to enter domain suffix along with their username when logging into Microsoft-based web services (such as SharePoint, Exchange, non-anonymous IIS, Groove, etc.)  Refer to the ‘Your Username’ section to determine how and when to use your username to login.  Additionally, we have a chart that shows which browsers work best with our various online services.

Using Mobile Devices

Depending on your device, your browser may or may not support viewing our online services.  For example, it is a known fact that Android based phones will not properly login to SharePoint due to the lack of NTLM authentication in the stock browser.  It is recommended that Android users download and install the Mozilla Firefox app and use that as your default browser.  It does support NTLM, and is more widely supported on other websites that have mobile viewing options.
